About #ForJodie

Jodie Chesney was an active Cub and Scout at the 4th Barking and Dagenham Scouts. In 2015, aged 14, Jodie moved on to the Explorer Scout section. During her time as an Explorer Scout with Columbus-BellahØj Explorer Scout Unit she achieved so much including both the Platinum and Diamond Chief Scouts Awards.

These awards co-inside with the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver awards but also involved Jodie taking on additional international, community and values projects. Jodie began her Queen Scout Award and DofE Gold journey.

But this was not to be completed.

On the 01 March 2019, Jodie was the victim of a knife attack in Harold Hill, that resulted in her death.

We have created this project in Jodie’s memory.

As Scouts we may not be able to stop knife crime, but by equipping more people in communities with emergency aid training and placing bleed control kits in key locations where knife crime may take place we want to prevent outcomes like Jodie’s.

All of these things Jodie did joyfully, with her enthusiasm pulling others along and inspiring those around her. Jodie was an incredibly loved and cherished member of our Explorer unit and achieved so much in her time in Scouting.

We have created a series of projects to support the community and Scouting, in memory of Jodie Chesney
